It was 2007 and I was working at a corporate law firm in Canary Wharf and living in the attic of a house in Whitechapel, East London. The house interested me more. It was built in the 1890s – or so I was told. And the large attic room used to be a sweatshop. Or so I was told.

It fascinated me that I knew nothing about the people who once lived there. So I lived my own double life: working Monday to Friday on private equity deals while researching the hidden history of the house at archives and libraries on weekends. The gaps that were left – they became TWO TIMING.
